Allen Tan — From Dallas Champion to State Prizewinner
A longtime student of Mr. Yibing Zhang, Allen Tan has earned top prizes in Dallas, international competitions, and 2nd Place at the 2026 TMTA Piano Concerto Competition.
Allen Tan is one of B&M Music School’s most accomplished longtime students. Having studied with Mr. Yibing Zhang since a young age, Allen has grown through years of disciplined training, competition experience, and increasingly advanced repertoire.
His journey began on the Dallas competition stage. From Fourth Place at the 2019 Dallas Piano Solo Competition, Allen steadily advanced to Second Place in 2020, First Place in 2021, and later returned to the top with another First Place in 2024. Along the way, he also earned repeated prizes in the Dallas Symphonic Festival and Trophy Competition, including First Place at the 2024 Trophy Competition.
Allen’s achievements soon expanded beyond the local stage. He received First Prize in several international competitions, including the 2021 Great Masters International Piano Competition, the 2021 International Piano Competition Mozart, the 2023 Great Piano Masters International Competition, and the 2024 Swiss International Music Competition.
The most significant milestone of his journey came in 2026, when Allen earned Second Place in the TMTA Piano Concerto Competition at the Texas state level. This achievement marked an important new chapter in his development—from a leading competitor in the Dallas area to a recognized prizewinner on the state stage.
