# Kate Xu — RCM State Award Winner & Gold Medalist
At just **12 years old**, Kate Xu has already distinguished herself as a promising young pianist through a growing list of achievements, reflecting her dedication, musical growth, and passion for performance.
Kate began participating in piano competitions in **2025, at the age of 11**. In her first **PMTA Trophy Competition**, she earned **Third Place**, an impressive debut that marked the beginning of her competition journey.
In early 2026, Kate reached an important milestone when she was recognized as an **RCM State Award Winner and Gold Medalist**.
She continued to build on that success throughout 2026, earning **Third Place at the DMTA Symphonic Festival** and **Second Place at the PMTA Trophy Competition**, demonstrating continued growth, confidence, and maturity as a young performer.
Kate also **participated in ISMI at UNT (International Summer Music Institute at the University of North Texas)** and was selected as the **opening performer for the Honor Recital**, providing her with another valuable opportunity to perform and grow as a musician.
A special thanks goes to Kate’s teacher, **Dr. Xinzhuo Li**, whose dedicated guidance has played an important role in Kate’s musical development. In just a few years of studying with Dr. Li, Kate has made tremendous progress in technique, musical understanding, confidence, and stage presence.
We are incredibly proud of Kate’s achievements and look forward to seeing her continue to grow and shine through music.
