Yuhe Lu — B&M Alumnus and Emerging Concert Pianist
B&M alumnus Yuhe Lu studied with Mr. Yibing Zhang from 2017–2022. A Mannes graduate, he now pursues his master’s at the Cleveland Institute of Music on a full scholarship.
At B&M Music School, we believe that music education can begin with curiosity and grow as far as a student’s talent, discipline, and aspirations can take them.
Yuhe Lu’s journey—from five formative years at B&M Music School to Mannes College of Music, and now to the Cleveland Institute of Music on a full scholarship—embodies this belief. His story reflects B&M’s commitment not only to inspiring a lifelong love of music, but also to providing serious young musicians with the foundation, mentorship, and training needed to pursue music at the highest level.
Yuhe Lu is an alumnus of B&M Music School (2017–2022) who studied with Mr. Yibing Zhang and was the recipient of top prizes in numerous youth piano competitions throughout the Dallas–Fort Worth area, including the Collin County Young Artist Competition, Dallas Symphonic Festival, and Lewisville Concerto Competition. He was also selected as a Junior Performer at the 2021 PianoTexas International Festival & Academy.
Yuhe received his Bachelor of Music degree from Mannes College of Music (2022–2026), where he studied with Professor Xiayin Wang. Upon graduation, he was honored with the Steinway Award in recognition of his achievements during his studies at Mannes.
He is currently pursuing a Master of Music degree at the Cleveland Institute of Music on a full scholarship. He is the recipient of the Vronsky & Babin Memorial Scholarship and studies with Professor Kathryn Brown.
Yuhe was the winner of the George & Elizabeth Gregory Concerto Competition and has performed at distinguished venues throughout New York City, including Carnegie Hall, Alice Tully Hall, Steinway Hall, The DiMenna Center for Classical Music, The Bohemian National Hall, and more.
He has also performed at The Union Club before distinguished guests, including representatives from the Consulates General of Japan and the Republic of Korea in New York.
His performances have also been featured on WQXR, where he gave the radio premiere of Gerard Schurmann’s Piano Ballade No. 1. As an orchestral pianist, he performed the piano solo in the New York premiere of Zhou Tian’s Concerto for Orchestra.
In addition to his performing career, Yuhe is an active piano educator. His students have received prizes in competitions including the Radda Competition, San Francisco International Piano Competition, and Glory International Music Competition. His students have also performed at Steinway Hall and Carnegie Hall and have been accepted into the Precollege Division of the Manhattan School of Music.
